APC Candidate Escapes Assassination Attempt In Delta
Mr. Sebastian Okoh, the Ika federal constituency candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC reportedly escaped assassination attempt on Saturday as unknown gunmen riddled his house with bullets.
Okoh told journalists that some people wanted to take his life in early hours of Saturday.
The candidate said he was at home with his family when suddenly the bullets start raining down on his building in process causing serious damage to vehicles parked in and outside the compound.
According to him, the shots were targeted at him and his household to put a stop on his liberation agenda, an agenda he said is divine to give Ika federal constituency peoples oriented leadership.
“I want to thank God for saving my life and that of my family from the war like situation that lasted for few minutes. I also want to appeal for calm on the part of my supporters, and I want to say that God has saved me and preserved me for a purpose”.
Also speaking he said he had earlier reported to the Agbor area command of the Nigerian Police of some suspected movements and presence of some foreign elements into the community.
Meanwhile, hundreds of youths from Umunede took to the streets to vent their anger over the alleged assassination attempt.
The area commandant of the Agbor area command ACP Cordelia Ikejiani who had visited the community and compound confirmed the incident, assuring the protesters thorough investigation would be carried out.
She appealed for peace, saying that only peace will guarantee environment that will promote healthy growth.
