13 Percent Derivation: HOSCON Passes Vote Of Confidence On Buhari

The leadership of the Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON) Producing Oil and Gas,  have passed vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari for his purposeful leadership in the handling of the 13 percent derivation issue.

In a communique released by National Director Media and Publicity  of the group, Okakuro Monday Whiskey and obtained by BigPen Online on Saturday after the group’s enlarged emergency national meeting held at its headquarters in Warri, the group said that its recent meeting with President Buhari shows he has the Niger Delta people at heart.

The group said it decided to pass a vote of confidence on President Buhari for his purposeful leadership, and his vision to ensure that the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria is strictly followed on the application of the 13% derivation fund that was hitherto misapplied by Governors of the oil bearing states to the detriments of the oil/gas bearing constituents.

The communique reads in part: “That the meeting resolved that President Muhammadu Buhari intention to ensure that 13% derivation fund is made available to the people of the oil/gas bearing constituents is one of the most outstanding decision that this government has taken as its affect the social economic and infrastructural transformation of the long neglected and environmental improvised oil bearing region of the country.

“The meeting resolved and appealed fervently to President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that HOSCON security company is giving adequate recognition in the proposed community pipeline policing initiative, as HOSCON promised to use her good will and grassroot contact to ensure adequate and effective policing of the vast pipelines within our communities.

“The meeting further resolved that President Muhammadu Buhari should prevail on the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources to urgently release all outstanding gas flare penalty levy to the benefit and to fast track the development initiative of HOSCON and her foreign development partners.

HOSCON leadership comprises of the National Executive Council, the Board of Trustees also passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman of the Board, former governor of old Rivers State and current chairman Bayelsa Council of Traditional Rulers HM King Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff, for his fatherly role.

“The meeting also resolved to pass vote of confidence on the founding father of HOSCON Chief Dr. Wellington Okirika (CON), for establishing such a grassroot mass movement that does not believe in the use of violence before advocating for their rights and privileges associated with oil and gas production since 2002 and it is hereby pass.

“Finally, the meeting passed a vote of confidence on the hardworking National Chairman Hoscon, and the representative of all oil producing states on the board of Ogoni clean up and Member hydrocarbon remediation project in the presidency Prince Dr. Mike Emuh for his purposeful and people oriented leadership that has resulted in promoting peace and development in the Niger Delta Areas and is hereby pass”.
