The source said that the party having weigh all the options of winning the election have settle for Ogboru who they said have the pedigree and followership that is needed to root out the ruling party, PDP.

BigPen Online learnt that the presidency was working on how to collapse the structure of the three prominent aspirants from the Delta North Senatorial district namely, Prof. Pat Utomi, Engr (Barr.) Victor Ochei and Dr. Cairo Ojougboh into Ogborus’ structure so that the party would not have a divided house after the primaries.

Our source hinted that in the foregoing arrangement, a running-mate will emerge from Delta North, while the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, will be chosen from Delta South.

The presidency source, when pressed to give reason for the purported decision to field a Delta Central person against earlier claims that APC, has zoned the Delta State Gubernatorial ticket to Delta North Senatorial District, said the thinking of the presidency concerning winning Delta State was different from what stakeholders across the Southern, Central and Northern Senatorial districts who have been lobbying for the ticket thought it would be.

When reminded that Delta State operates a power rotation pattern for the governorship, the presidential source with knowledge of the development hinted that the Buhari administration was not aware of any arrangement by the APC, adding however that President Buhari has empowered Delta North with other appointments like the Petroleum Resources Minister, Dr Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
