4 Feared Dead, Many Injured Over NURTW’s Leadership Tussle In Delta

Four persons have been reportedly dead and many injured following an orgy of violence which broke out over the leadership tussle by National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW) Express Junction Park in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The crisis started Monday and snowballed into Tuesday morning where many were said to have sustained various degree of injuries.

Sources disclosed that several properties  were destroyed by the feuding parties involved in the crisis which has engulfed the area.

The situation has forced residents as well as passengers to relocate from the area for fear of not been hit by stray bullet.

It was learnt that one Elvis Kporoh allegedly overthrew the leadership of the NURTW led by one Michael last week successfully.

Report says one person was earlier killed on Tuesday when suspected cultist loyal to one of the aspirants stormed the area.

Miffed by the development, suspected thugs loyal to Michael regrouped and launched a counter attack leading to the death of the three persons.

Report says the Vice Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Justice Iyasere confirmed the incident when speaking to newsmen in Warri.

“It’s a change of leadership of Express park. 3 dead and many injured”.

Hon. Iyasere stated that the Udu Local Government Council is convening a security meeting with a view to addressing situation stressing, “the Police and Army are on ground presently.”

Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said ,”I will make enquiry but didn’t ret back as at press time.
