BREAKING: Okowa Approves Sack Of 568 Workers Of Delta Line

Following the purported partial sale of Delta Line Transport Services Limited, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Thursday approved the retrenchment of 568 staff of the company.

BigPen Online gathered that the staff were disengaged today (Thursday) by the management of Good Is Good Motors (GIGM) who buy off 70 percent of the company from Delta state Government at the cost of N161million naira.

Dependable sources however revealed that controversies have started trailing the action of governor as the staff alleged the new management have started recruiting non-Deltans employees from Anambra and Imo states at the expense of Deltans who laboured for the transport company for years.

BigPen Online learnt that the affected workers who were lay off today would stage a mass protest and shut down the transport company headquarters in Asaba, the state capital next week.

The company was controversially sold in 2017 to the Ajaere family – owners and managers of one of the most successful passenger carrier companies in Nigeria, GIGM.com, (God is Good Motors).

God is Good Motors, currently being run by Mrs Stella Ajaere alongside Chidi, wife and eldest son respectively of the late businessman Deacon Edwin Ajaere who passed away in 2009, funded Okowa’s election in 2015 by provision of buses for his campaign.
