APC Chairmanship: Buhari’s ‘Choice’, Oshiomhole Sets To Declare Intention In Abuja
Former labour leader and former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is set to declare his intention for the All Progressive Congress (APC), National Chairmanship seat.
Oshiomhole, who was recently endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari as possible replacement for the incumbent National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun would formally declare his intention tomorrow in Abuja, BigPen Online can authoritatively report.
Preparation for the event is currently in a top gear, a source privy with the arrangement told one of our correspondents, saying it would be a huge event in the FCT.
Recall that President Buhari had during a late night meeting held with 16 Governors of the APC platform at presidential Villa, instructed the Governors to deliver Oshiomhole.
Presidency source was quoted to have said that, apart from the issue being the sole item on the agenda of the meeting, the governors equally endorsed the position of Buhari on Oshiomhole.
Our source said, “The President called this meeting with the APC governors to ask them to back Oshiomhole’s candidature. That’s the purpose of the meeting. And that is the President’s position.”
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the incumbent National Chairman of the party, was yet to make his position known on if he will be seeking another term in office or not.
The party’s National Convention, where new members of the National Working Committee will emerge, has been slated for May 14 in Abuja.
