Why Buhari Sacks Boroh As Amnesty Programme Boss, Orders Probe
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has sacked his Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs and Coordinator Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (retd), following wide allegations of fraud detriment to the programme.
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, confirmed the sack on Tuesday and said Buhari has also directed the National Security Adviser, General Babagana Monguno to probe the amnesty programme right from 2015 to date as earlier reported by BigPen Online.
The President has however named a replacement for Boroh. He is Prof. Charles Quaker Dokubo.
Dokubo who hails from River state is currently the Director of Research and Studies at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.
He holds a PhD in Strategic Studies from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom, and hails from Abonema, Akuku-Toru Local Government of Rivers State.
Adesina’s statement on Tuesday said Buhari has also directed Monguno, to carry out a full investigation into the activities of the Amnesty Programme from 2015 to date, especially allegations of financial impropriety and other acts that are allegedly detrimental to the objectives of the programme.
