Obasanjo, Secondus, Other Prominent Nigerians Grace Dickson’s Anniversary

Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Hon. Uche Secondus and other prominent Nigerians are on the roll call of dignitaries for the marking of the 6th anniversary of the Bayelsa state restoration government and also the commissioning of projects done by the current government.

The week long event will avail Bayelsans and people of the world the opportunity to see what impact the current government under the leadership of Hon. Seriake Dickson, has done within the year in review.

Secretary to the State Government and chairman central planning committee, Mr. Kemela Okara, disclosed this in a Press briefing at government house to reel out the programme of event.

Okara, while addressing the media noted that it is vital for any good government as ours that places high premium on delivery of promises to on a regular basic provide opportunity for bayelsans to score the government on its performances.

He said, “Commissioning of projects is essential because it’s a period for us to tell the world and Bayelsans that we hold dearly the mandate to serve, adding that such issues are important because this is when we pause and reflect on what we have been doing”.

The SSG who applauded the state commissioner for information and orientation, Mr. Markson Iworiso, averred that the programme which will start with the inter-denominational church service at the Bayelsa state Ecumenical centre on Sunday 11, added that the service is in light of the fact that all success comes from God.

He noted that on Monday 12, a public lecture with the theme “Restructuring the way forward for a new Nigeria” which guest speaker will be Rtd. Gen. Alani Akinrinde, and a panel of eminent Nigerians as discussant, adding that commissioning of the State Secretariat Annex and Cultural boulevard will commence.

Uche Secondus, will commission a number of projects on Wednesday 14, which is the actual anniversary, include the OX-bow lake pavilion, adding that the following day will witness commissioning of the Bayelsa Health Insurance scheme office, Federal Medical Centre house officers quarters, doctors quarters of the 500 bed hospital, police officers mess and the security command centre government house, he said.

Okara said, Friday 16, will begin with the receiving of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, then to the traditions ruler’s council, then commissioning of Bayelsa specialist hospital, the drug mart, diagnostic centre, Igbogene glory drive, renamed as “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo drive” and the Bayelsa Aqua village.

He said the last day will be an interactive section with students in Bayelsa at the Ijaw National Academy tag an Hour with the former president, before the grand breaking for a private sector refinery project at Obunagha community, Gbarain in Yenagoa.

In his earlier remark, the state commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Markson Iworiso, noted that the very reason why they
are in government was to delivery service and that is what is happening, adding that commissioning of projects to this government is critical to the development of the state and impacting tremendously in the life of the people.
