The allegation made by Niger Delta Coalition’s (NDC) leader, Mr. Young Piro against the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu allegedly accused of aiding the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has received wide condemnation from stakeholders in the Niger Delta region.

This is coming as a group under the auspices of Independent Youths of Niger Delta IYND has come in defense of the Minister.

The group in a statement released on Friday and signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Ezenwa McPaul, alleged that the attacks are being spearheaded and sponsored by those who are out of business due to the tremendous efforts of the petroleum Minister to ensure that the visions and programmes of President Buhari’s administration for the region takes root.

The group also threatened court action against the group or persons responsible for the allegations.

“We find the statement credited to one Young Piro where he accused the Ministers of sponsoring the NDA as treacherous and deformative and we want to use this medium to call on him and anybody behind him to retract that publication or provide substantiated evidences within seven (7) days or be prepared to defend it in court.

“The days of cheap blackmail either to get attention or compensation is gone, IYND said in its statement made available to BigPen Online in Abuja.

It would be recalled that Young Piro in Abuja had alleged that Usani who is the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Kachikwu and the Director-General of the Amnesty Programme, Gen Paul Boroh were patronizing and encouraging militancy in the region, accusing the trio of being the masterminds of the recent threat by NDA to end its ceasefire with a view to causing unrest in the oil and gas sector, thereby taking the country back into recession.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the APC chapter in Delta State, Jones Erue, has described the allegations as unfortunate which the party took exception to and stated that the party was already initiating a disciplinary action against Mr. Young Piro who incidentally is also a member of the party.

He also called on security agencies to investigate the said Piro and his group to ascertain their source of information from which he has made such weighty allegations against Federal Government appointees.
