Foremost Ijaw youth organisation, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide has asked the Federal Government to drop all 'corruption' cases against former leader of the Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo). The call was made in a statement released by IYC President, Eric Omare on Wednesday to felicitate with Tompolo on his 47th birthday billed for tomorrow, 12th day of April, 2018. Several Ijaw villages lining the coastal part of Bayelsa state have been razed down allegedly by rampaging soldiers, reports reaching BigPen Online say. Sources said that soldiers had torched several houses in the Toru-Ndoro community, in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state where a military official was killed last week by suspected militants. Foremost Ijaw youth organisation, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide has petitioned the United Nations Human Rights Council over human rights abuses in the Niger Delta region by security agencies particularly Directorate of State Security Services (DSS). The petition which was addressed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland; Mr. Zeid Raiad Al Hussein, alleged the continued detention of Niger Deltans by various security agencies in Nigeria especially by the DSS.     Foremost  Ijaw Youth Council  under the leadership of Mr. Eric Omare has said it would not celebrate over the report that the federal government has approved additional fund for the take off of Nigerian Maritime University, Okenrenkoko,  Delta State.  BigPen Online recalls that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru had on Saturday, November 11, 2017 stated in Benin that President Buhari has ordered immediate release of three billion naira for recruitment and provisions of infrastructures for the take-off of the maritime university. But reacting, Omare said that there is nothing to celebrate yet with respect to the promise to release funds for the take-off of the university.  He spoke over the weekend after a visit to the take-off campus of the Niger
