Suspicion, As DESOPADEC Awards Contracts Without Budgetary Provisions; 2016 Budget Still Being Implemented

Investigation have shows how Delta State Oil Producing Area Commission, (DESOPADEC), award contracts ostensibly for "political reason" without budgetary provisions for such project. The development, which is said to be the reason for the chains of abandoned projects dotting every part of the oil bearing communities, calls for concern owing to the huge allocation that have accrued to the oil commission over the years yet projects are not budgeted for. There have been suspicion in some quarters that many of the projects however were awarded for "political settlement of politicians", their cronies and fronts, hence some remain as wasteful and having no direct impact in the oil bearing communities. The Delta State oil Producing Area commission, (DESOPADEC) has been shut down indefinitely. The shut down followed unabated protest by junior staff of the commission for days. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DESOPADEC, Olorogun Williams Makinde in a memo issued on Thursday night and obtained by BigPen Online, said following the illegal declaration of strike and violent behaviour of junior staff, the commission is hereby close till further notice. BigPen Online however learnt that the management of the commission has  relocated its meetings to Lagos with intent to disperse the protesting workers who have crippled activities at the oil commission for four days running. *Protester cripple commission for two days running over deduction of salary arrears, others   An overzealous mobile police officer on Tuesday mistakenly shot his colleague on the leg in an attempt to disperse protesting workers of Delta State oil Producing Area commission, (DESOPADEC). Hundreds of Staff of the commission had laid sieged to the headquarters of the oil commission along Warri/Sapele road in protest of deduction of salary arrears, non promotion of staff for ten years running among other issues.
