Delta state main opposition party, All Progressive Congress (APC) has rejected the alleged offer of chairmanship and Councillorship position to them in the just concluded local governor election in the state. The party leaders in a joint statement had alleged that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had directed the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to award Councillorship positions to some APC candidate in Ughelli North and Ethiope East council Area.   Reports reaching BigPen Online shows that fake result sheets are allegedly in circulation across the 25 local government area of Delta State. Multiple sources told one of our correspondents that result sheets which are in circulation in some part of the state, particularly in Sapele are different from the ones DSIEC used during the training of their selected adhoc staff. The source said that in Otor-Udu council, the electoral officer deployed to the area allegedly absconded with the result sheets and left the other electoral materials which were later distributed.     Ahead of today (January 6, 2018) local government elections, the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) has announced the returned unopposed of 57 councilors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This followed the failure of Delta State main opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties to field candidates against those who occupy the positions and had picked form for the tomorrow’s local government elections in the state. Chairman of DSIEC, Chief Mike Ogbodu, in a press statement, said the 57 PDP councilors are being returned unopposed as no other candidates are in contention with them. The Delta State government and Delta State Independent Electoral Commission DSIEC have been cautioned against rigging of the January 6 chairmanship and councillorship election in Okpe local government area.
