Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC) has indicated moves to arrest and prosecute Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti once he leave office as a governor.

BigPen Online recalls that Fayose has been under EFCC investigation over N1.3billion Ekiti Integrated Poultry Project/Biological Concepts Limited case which was allegedly tinted with fraud.

The fraud case which was initiated during the PDP administration was suspended following the immunity covering Fayose as a sitting governor. The immunity from arrest and prosecution expires once he handover to the new Governor-elect of Ekiti state. Fayose’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost in the Saturday election to the Nigeria’s ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC).

EFCC in its Twitter handle @officialEFCC indicated moves to dust off the file and resume investigation and possibly prosecute Mr. Fayose of alleged fraud offences.

“The parri is over; The cloak of immunity torn apart, and the staff broken. #Ekiti Integrated Poultry Project/Biological Concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case file dusted off the shelves. See you soon”. https://t.co/pD1ZheVhWt

The tweet however has received serious backlash since it was posted around 12: 37PM. https://twitter.com/officialEFCC/status/1018459465203552261

Customarily of EFCC, suspects under investigation are arrested, interrogated and subsequently charged for alleged offences.
