Tension is mounting in the Niger Delta following a plot by a section of ex-militant leaders to launch a campaign for the removal of the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd). The development has however divided the ranks of the Ex-militants as some are rooting for Boroh while others are against him. Following the letter by Arewa Youths Council, calling on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to allow the Igbos have their 'Biafra Republic' through a referendum, a Niger Delta group has demanded that the referendum be extended to the oil-rich region to enable the indigenous people of the area go their own way. (BigPen, Rotterdam) Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS) on Tuesday ambushed a gang of sea robbers along KM-45 AWOBA Waterways in Rivers State.  During the ambush operation, four suspected sea robbers met their waterloo. Items recovered from them include; 2× AK-47 rifles, quantity 3× AK-47 magazines, quantity 22 ammunitions and one speed boat mounted with one 200 Horse-Power engine. Similarly, troops patrol along Bayelsa waterways acting on information, raided a sea pirates hideout along FORUPA-LOBIA waterways. However, sea pirates on sighting troops advance fled the hideout, and left behind 3× fiber boats and one 75 Horse-Power engine.
