Operation Crocodile Smile: Troops Storm Sapele, Jesse, Oghara, Charge To Follow Rule Of Engagement

Military troops on Saturday stormed Sapele, Jesse, Oghara in continuation of Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta region with a charge on officers and men of the operation to ensure they follow order and also be of good behaviour in order to get maximum support from the general public. The Brigade commander of 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benin, Edo state, Brigadier General Ibrahim Garba gave the order in Sapele, Delta State shortly before the operation crocodile smile stormed the area for what the army described as "show of force". The Save Our Ogoni Project has expressed worried over the way and manner Lamor and Inkas, the two leading firms handling the cleanup and remediation exercise in Bodo community are conducting their business in the community. Barely three weeks after an ambush on a military houseboat that killed two in Southern Ijaw creeks in Bayelsa, suspected militants have attacked a tugboat in the same area and killed three crew members. Suspected Niger Delta militants had on August 28 ambushed a houseboat operated by the Joint Task Force and killed a soldier and a civilian crew member. An oil services vessel with a combined team of security escort on board and civilians was attacked on Friday by suspected sea pirates at Ekebiri Waterways in Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa. Suspected pirates have attacked an international merchant vessel at the Parrot Island area of Calabar in Cross River State of Nigeria kidnapping five of the crew, police source has said. Sources said the attackers came in four speed boats amidst sporadic gunshots to subdue their victim before whisking them in their boats to an unknown destination.
