Jonathan’s Former Aide, Okupe Finally Quit PDP

Former Special Adviser on Public Affairs to ‎former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Sunday quit the Peoples Democratic Party. Okupe said there is no future for the PDP in Nigeria. His decision to leave the party was made public via his Facebook page, explaining that he is convinced that even when the much expected judgement from the Supreme Court on the crisis rocking the PDP is delivered, the future of the party is not likely to be significantly affected, whichever way the judgement goes. He added that the PDP no longer exists in his ward in Ogun State since the party split into two factions. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has dissolved the State Executive Council. This was contained in a statement made in the early hours of Sunday by Fayose’s Special Adviser on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka. All the former Commissioners have been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries. Fayose thanked the former commissioners for their service to the State and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has proceeded on a 15-Day leave as part of his annual vacation. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu on Friday in Asaba, said "In line with the provisions of Section 190 of the 1999 Constitution as amended, the Governor has written to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly intimating the House of his intention to proceed on his annual leave. The EA Oil and Gas Field operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company Of Nigeria Limited, SPDC, located in Bayelsa State of Nigeria has been reportedly shut down, BigPen Online has learnt.
