Gunmen Kills District Head In Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command on Saturday confirmed that unidentified gunmen killed Alhaji Ibrahim Madawaki, the District Head of Kucheri in Tsafe local government area of the state. Muhammad Shehu, the Command’s Spokesman, disclosed this in a statement in Gusau. Shehu stated that some unidentified gunmen invaded Kucheri town at about 9:00 p.m. on Friday and killed the district head in front of his house. He also noted that when the police visited the scene of the incident, they discovered that nothing was removed from the district head’s house.   A former councillor in Uvwie Council, and two others have been arrested by soldiers for alleged armed robbery in Delta state. The suspects simply identified as Messer Lucky Adibu, Prince Adibu and Victor Achi were apprehended after they allegedly robbed a commercial tricycle operator, identified as Abraham Ofarn and his passengers near Sun-Set Street in Effurun, near Warri. Eyewitness disclosed that soldiers on guard duty along Okoribi road in Uvwie Local Government Area arrested the suspects. The suspects were rounded up by the Soldiers after they allegedly robbed and shattered the windshield of commercial tricycle with Registration number BKW 364 UC.   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reopened its investigation into a N21.74 billion Independent Power Plant (IPP) project in Oghara, Delta State, New Telegraph is reporting. The contract for the project was awarded by the Delta State Government to an indigenous firm, Davnotch Nigeria Limited, on June 23, 2009 for the supply and installation of two Rolls Royce Trent Gas Turbine Generators to boost power generation and distribution in the state. It had an initial contract term of 60 per cent down payment and completion period of 24 months.   A Benin-based activist and anti-corruption crusader, Bishop Osadolor Ochei has asked a Federal High Court in Abuja for an order of mandamus compelling the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to commence criminal proceedings against former Edo state governor, Adams Aliu Oshiomhole on alleged corruption. An ex-parte motion marked FHC/ABJ/CS/628/2018 praying the court to order EFCC to put Oshiomole on trial followed the Bishop’s petition to the EFCC, dated October 28, 2016 ‎against Oshiomhole, who was governor of Edo state from November 2008 to November 11, 2016.   The Police in Niger state have launched a full-scale manhunt for 200 jail breakers who escaped from Minna Medium Security Prison on Sunday. Already, only 19 of the 219 jail breakers have been recaptured. The police, on Monday said it had taken measures to ensure the arrest of the remaining 200 prisoners. Dibal Yakadi, the Commissioner of Police in Niger, said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna that only 19 out of the 219 prisoners that escaped were arrested.
