There has been reports of civil unrest in Kaduna as youths on Saturday attacked people living in the badarawa area with dangerous weapons. The youths who are popularly called the “yan shara”(sweepers) also attacked traders and people who were travelling along the popular Katuru road, stabbing and seizing mobile phones and money from any person they come across. The cause of the riot could not be ascertained as residents fled for safety. However, the Police immediately arrived after a distress call and also made a number of arrests. Two unidentified gunmen have killed a former Commissioner for Trade and Investment in Bayelsa State, Mr. Ayakeme Masa. It was gathered that Masa was killed in his house in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Sunday morning at about 6.30am in the presence of his wife. Bayelsa State Government has taken over the medical treatment of Patience Onisofien Owei, a correspondent of the Africa Independent Television (AIT), who was shot by armed youths on Friday in Yenagoa, the state capital. Daredeviled armed robbers on Friday hijacked a bullion van in Asaba, the Delta state capital, emptied it of all cash deposit, amidst heavy shooting. The police in Delta State have arrested the fleecing cop who allegedly shot a student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Sofia Ogogo, and a civil servant, Victor Emeagwai, at a checkpoint in Ibusa, close to Asaba, the state capital. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has lifted the order freezing 16 accounts linked to firmer First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan. The court vacated the order it made on May 30, freezing 16 separate bank accounts and has fixed January 22, 2018, to hear a Fundamental Human Right suit brought against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Justice Binta Nyako lifted the order that barred Mrs. Jonathan and 10 different organizations connected to her, from having access to the bank accounts containing aggregate sums of $5.8million and N3.5billion.
