Reggae Star, Ras Kimono Dies At 60

Reggae icon, Ukeleke Onwubuya, popularly known as ‘Ras Kimono’, is dead. He was reported to have passed away Sunday morning at a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos. The "Under pressure" crooner was scheduled to travel to United States Saturday night, but had complained of not feeling too well, family source said. Reports say he was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, then later taken to Lagoon Hospital in the Island where later died. Music veterans, Tony Okoroji and Sir Shina Peters have confirmed his death. President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Mr Pretty Okafor, expressed shock over the sudden death of Kimono. He described his death as a "big loss to the music industry".   Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday says Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is impervious to the pain he is causing Deltans. The party stated this in reaction to the Delta state government claims that it released N800million to lessen the burden of councils in the payment of local government workers salaries.
