Stern looking security operatives detailed at the headwaters of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have stopped the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Bayelsa, Senator Douye Diri from gaining access to the INEC headquarters.

Diri was at the headquarters to pick his supposed certificate of return following the Supreme Court’s judgement that stopped the inauguration of Chief David Lyon as the governor of the state.

Diri arrived INEC office about 11.15 am at a time the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu and some National Commissioners were holding a closed door meeting at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.

He was stopped at the gate and asked to make a u-turn by the stern looking security operation.

But the Nation had reported that Diri was later addressed by a senior INEC official who asked him to go that the Commission will revert back to him at the right time.

Meanwhile the Commission is set to brief journalists on its decision.
