Prince Ogievie 1 has warned meddlesome people and rumour mongers to steer clear of the Oba Palace or face dire consequences.
He asserted that the warning has become imperative in the light of recent events whereby some inconsequential individuals cast aspersions on the palace for reasons that are not at par with the culture and traditions of the ancient kingdom.
According to Prince Ogievie 1 the only way to gain favour from the ancestors is by according respect to the Benin monarchy.
“The history of Benin kingdom is filled with stories of the role played by the monarchy in bringing good tidings to the people. In the tradition of the kingdom it is unheard of where some people make grave and unsubstantiated allegations against the palace.
“Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, N’Ogidigan, has within the period of his assumption shown that he is a true representative of the ancestors.
“For those who go about acting contrary to the Benin culture to cast aspersions on the Omo N’Oba they risk dire consequences.
“We are watching and such nonsensical behaviour would be addressed in line with the customs and traditions of Benin kingdom in due course.”
