Nigeriadecide2019: 3 Feared Dead, Two Hospitalised In Amukpe, Delta State

Three persons have been reported dead in Amukpe, near Sapele, Delta state.

BIGPEN NIGERIA gathered that the deceased were eligible voters who were trying to cast their vote.

The incident happened along old Eku road Amukpe, Sapele local government area of Delta State.

Eyewitness says some unknown gunmen stormed the polling units when the voting was still on and rain bullets in the voters.

About two persons died instantly while one who got bullet wound was said to have died at the hospital. Two others have been hospitalized.

Local residents who were unwilling to volunteer information about the incident, said they were on queue waiting to be accredited when some armed men drove in and started shooting directly at voters.

The source couldn’t state who the shooters are but noted that it appears they came to scare away the large crowd of voters at the polling unit.

Our source disclosed that he was no sure if the electoral materials were carted away by the attackers as both INEC ad-hoc Staff, security agents and eligible voters fled when the bullets started flying.

Some electoral materials were seen scattered on the floor with soldiers mounting barricade on the road.

When contacted, Delta state Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke said he was yet to be briefed on the incident and promised to revert back which he never did as at press time.

Meanwhile the corpse of the deceased have been evacuated from the scene as at 2:55 pm when our correspondent left the scene.
