GORY PICTURES: Six Killed As PDP, APC Clash Snowballed Into A Major Crisis In Effurun

No fewer than six corpses were deposited at the hospital morgue after a fresh clash between supporters of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC snowballed into a major crisis in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased were victims of renewed crisis in the local government council. Four males and two females were killed in the renewed hostility.

They were reportedly killed at different locations in Effurun and in a hotbed near Jakpa Junction.

BIGPEN ONLINE gathered that the killing started Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday when more victims fell to bullet of the attackers.

Sources said that local youths had taken advantage of the PDP and APC clashes to stage a “local coup” against the current community executives in the different oil bearing communities in Effurun.

Multiple sources disclosed that some of the victims were either stabbed to death or shot in their homes between the hours of 12:am to 5:am on Monday.

It was learnt that one of the victims was simply identified as Onyema, a non indigene, but is involved in community issues in the area.

But another version claimed that security personnel deployed to the area to quell the crisis shot some of the victims.

The Delta State Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Warri claimed only five persons were killed in the mayhem. He however denied involvement of security agents drafted to the area.
