U.S. President Donald Trump A report in the Punch newspaper says the United States Government has made it clear that it does not consider the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist organisation.  The paper quoted the spokesman for the American Embassy in Nigeria, Russell Brooks, as telling it on Friday that the U.S. Government does not view IPOB as a terrorist group. Barely three weeks after an ambush on a military houseboat that killed two in Southern Ijaw creeks in Bayelsa, suspected militants have attacked a tugboat in the same area and killed three crew members. Suspected Niger Delta militants had on August 28 ambushed a houseboat operated by the Joint Task Force and killed a soldier and a civilian crew member. An oil services vessel with a combined team of security escort on board and civilians was attacked on Friday by suspected sea pirates at Ekebiri Waterways in Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa. Group Vows To Challenge Okowa’s New DSIEC Law, Insists It Is A Bad Law

A group, Delta Stakeholders Group, has vowed to challenge the new Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, (DSIEC) bill signed into law few days ago by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, over alleged flaws in the law. The group in a statement on Saturday signed by its Director for Public Communication and Strategy, Prince Henry Efe Duku, and obtained by BigPen Online, said that the law wouldn't stand because the State House of Assembly hastily rubber-stamped the bill received from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. Suspected pirates have attacked an international merchant vessel at the Parrot Island area of Calabar in Cross River State of Nigeria kidnapping five of the crew, police source has said. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said that the former chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF between 2009 and 2015, Mrs Ngozi Olejeme, is still under wanted list. EFCC said Olejeme, who was also the Deputy Chairman, Finance Committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation in 2015, alongside an adjunct  Professor, Olufunmilade Adeyemi; and two others — Haruna Adamu and Jennifer Timinipre Turnah are still being wanted for alleged cases of fraud.
