While on a visit to Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti, Atiku noted that losing an election to a rival party should be seen in the light of the concession by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 presidential election. President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the 2018 budget into law on Wednesday. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reopened its investigation into a N21.74 billion Independent Power Plant (IPP) project in Oghara, Delta State, New Telegraph is reporting. The contract for the project was awarded by the Delta State Government to an indigenous firm, Davnotch Nigeria Limited, on June 23, 2009 for the supply and installation of two Rolls Royce Trent Gas Turbine Generators to boost power generation and distribution in the state. It had an initial contract term of 60 per cent down payment and completion period of 24 months. On June 24, 2009, Davnotch accepted the offer and promised to complete the contract within the stipulated time frame. The Federal Government says land border between Nigeria and a neighbouring country will be shut down in a few days time to avoid smuggling of foreign rice into the country. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh revealed this in Abuja on Monday while speaking with youths in a leadership clinic under the auspices of Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI). However, Ogbeh did not mention which particular country and border but said that the action had become necessary to encourage local production and sustain the economy of the country. The All Progressives Congress (APC) screening appeal committee says 19 aspirants has been disqualified from contesting various offices at its national convention. Briefing journalists on Saturday, chairman of the committee, Rochas Okorocha said petitions were received from party members for the disqualification of some of the aspirants screened. He also noted that the committee has not received any petition against aspirants vying for the national chairman and national secretary positions.
